Waht is TestOS ?
Test Os kernel is The an open source project, founded to provide an educational and research Kernel. It's designed to be a tiny and very simple kernel with small parts that can be used independently as parts of other kernels. Students can easily read the kernel source and understand it because it contains only the necessary parts of a real kernel, and thus students and researchers can easily use it in their projects. TOS was originally created for educational and research purposes but it can be easily ported to be used as a kernel for embedded systems. This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of GNU General Public License (GPL). Test Os is also a part of the Open-ESI initiative (open source programs supported by the National School of Computer Science of Algeria).
Goals
- Provide a platform for researchers to implement and test new algorithms, taking advantage of the performance monitor.
- Provide a simple and very small kernel for students. The best way to understand an Operating system course is to implement and try studied algorithms.
- It's a good starting point for those who want to study KERNEL programming.
- Provide a set of useful libraries and parts that can be used to build a new fully functional kernel.
Test OS kernel Team
The TestOS project is being developed at the National Institute of Computer Science, called now the HIGH School of Computer Science (Ecole National Superieur d'Informatique) - (INI) - Algeria. It is maintained by:
- Djekidel Mohamed Nadhir , Central South University, Changsha, China, altctrlsup |AT| yahoo.com
- Baghdadi Mohamed Riyadh, The High School of Computer Science (ex INI), baghdadi.mr |AT| gmail.com.
